Professional operators can now test Tether’s USDT stablecoin on Bitcoin through Utexo’s early-access sandbox, preparing integrations ahead of the network’s public launch on November 28, 2026.
Utexo Mint, a platform operated by Utexo, opened testing today for USDT deployment via the RGB protocol. The move marks USDT’s return to Bitcoin after the stablecoin originally launched on the network in 2014. Unlike Tether’s direct issuance, this version is launched by Utexo but backed by Tether’s USDT0 protocol.
Early integrators include exchanges, wallets, market makers, over-the-counter desks, and trading firms. According to Utexo’s press release, these operators are “positioning themselves to capture initial demand and build market share as adoption grows.”
Testing and Compliance Framework
The Utexo Mint sandbox allows professional operators to validate minting, confidential transfers, and redemption mechanics before public availability. RGB protocol enables private transfers without requiring address reuse, a feature Utexo describes as “private by design.”
Regulatory compliance runs parallel to privacy features. Utexo stated that it “monitor[s] all source USDT coming in, and check[s] AML score plus we monitor the risk on the RGB side too. We have a partnership with Crystal Intelligence for the AML,” according to a statement to Bitcoin Magazine.
Phased Rollout Timeline
The public launch on Bitcoin via RGB occurs on November 28, 2026. A second phase is planned for Q1 2027, extending USDT to Lightning Network payments.
Early access testing runs from today through the November 28 public launch, giving professional operators a window to integrate and prepare infrastructure before broader availability.
