American Bitcoin’s stock jumped 5% on Monday afternoon following the release of second-quarter results showing the company expanded its Bitcoin treasury while reporting a net loss of $57.2 million.
The publicly traded mining and treasury company, majority-owned by Hut 8 Corp and led by Eric Trump as Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer alongside CEO Mike Ho, increased its Bitcoin holdings from 7,021 to 8,002 coins during the quarter. The company now ranks 16th among Bitcoin treasuries globally, with its holdings valued at $510.6 million at current prices.
American Bitcoin achieved record quarterly production in Q2 2026, mining approximately 932 Bitcoin. The expansion of holdings came despite headwinds from declining cryptocurrency prices and increased mining costs and difficulty that have pressured the broader mining sector.
Production and Strategy Focus
Mike Ho, CEO, said the company stayed disciplined during market weakness. “Despite Bitcoin headwinds in Q2, we stayed focused on what we can control: we delivered our highest quarterly production on record, grew our strategic reserve to over 8,000 Bitcoin, and strengthened the foundation of our business,” Ho stated.
American Bitcoin has maintained its focus on mining and holding Bitcoin rather than pivoting to artificial intelligence computing, a shift many publicly traded Bitcoin miners have pursued to diversify revenue streams.
Shareholder Value and Outlook
Eric Trump emphasized the company’s long-term conviction. “Our conviction in Bitcoin remains absolute, and our goal is simple: to deliver relentless growth, quarter after quarter, and build the preeminent American Bitcoin powerhouse for the long haul,” Trump said.
The Q2 loss of $57.2 million reversed the company’s Q2 2025 result, when American Bitcoin reported a $3.4 million profit. Ho indicated the company is targeting balance sheet strength and per-share Bitcoin growth. “Looking ahead, we are focused on deepening that infrastructure advantage, strengthening our balance sheet position, and compounding Bitcoin per share so that the work we do today translates into durable value for our shareholders across market cycles,” Ho said.
