A first-time 100 XRP deposit routed through Xaman wallet to Clearstar’s earnXRP vault on Flare would yield approximately 99.38 XRP after 12 months, according to break-even analysis based on current fee structures and vault performance data.
The shortfall reflects cumulative charges across multiple layers. Xaman levies a 0.5% deposit service charge on the initial XRP transfer. Minting FXRP on Flare incurs a 0.11% charge. A one-time 2 XRP Flare Smart Account setup cost represents a larger percentage hit on smaller deposits. The earnXRP vault itself charges a 0.75% management fee plus a 10% performance fee on gains. Redemption to native XRP carries a 0.2% FXRP-to-XRP conversion fee.
Break-even timing depends on deposit size. A 100 XRP deposit reaches break-even near 15.4 months after entry and redemption, assuming the vault delivers its trailing 30-day Total APY of 1.18% displayed on October 21. A 10,000 XRP deposit breaks even in approximately 4.5 months, where fixed charges dilute less severely across the principal.
“The holder’s practical question is how much native XRP returns after an entire investment cycle, and how long the assets must stay deployed to recover the charges,” according to analysis framing the cost structure.
Xaman’s own illustration assumes a 3.5% gross annual yield minus vault costs to reach a 2.25% net return. That figure exceeds the 1.18% trailing APY reported by Upshift on October 21 for the earnXRP vault. Xaman does not specify whether its 2.25% net return assumption reflects historical performance or remains illustrative.
The earnXRP vault yield includes vested rewards in rFLR tokens, which carry vesting schedules that discount their immediate spending value. Upshift states that share-price returns already reflect internal vault fees, but the extent to which trailing APY accounts for external wallet, setup, and redemption costs remains unclear.
Xaman exempts yield withdrawals from its 0.5% deposit service charge but applies the 0.2% Flare redemption fee to all XRP redemptions. Withdrawal options include a standard route with a two-day period and no stated standard fee, plus an optional instant route subject to liquidity and carrying an unspecified fee.
An XRPL.to ledger study published October 16 identified 34,832 payments charged at Xaman’s 0.5% rate through that date but did not establish how many represented unique Flare deposits or completed vault round trips. XRPL.to disclosed a 0.4% commercial charge on swaps through its own site.
Flare simplified the deposit path on July 28 to require a single XRP Ledger signature, reducing friction for users routing XRP through Xaman to the earnXRP vault. The mechanism remains dependent on Clearstar’s vault management and Upshift’s infrastructure to deliver the APY required for break-even within the stated timeframes.
