Tether is expanding its tokenization business into Saudi Arabia, deploying its Hadron platform to issue and manage tokenized institutional real estate assets in partnership with First Data and fintech company BKN301.

The announcement, made on August 6, marks Tether’s entry into Saudi Arabia’s financial modernization push under Vision 2030. Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, said in a statement: “With Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia stands out as an ideal market for demonstrating the impact of platforms like Hadron by Tether.”

Hadron, Tether’s tokenization platform launched in 2024, simplifies the process of converting traditional assets into blockchain-native tokens. The Saudi Arabia deployment will initially focus on real estate but is designed to expand into other asset classes including energy and infrastructure finance.

Partnership Structure

First Data will serve as the issuer and market operator for tokenized assets under the arrangement. BKN301, a fintech company specializing in banking and compliance systems, will act as a connector between Hadron and existing financial infrastructure. The partnership gives Tether operational footing in a market actively pursuing enterprise blockchain adoption across financial services, government, and supply chain management.

Market Context

Tokenization of traditional assets has accelerated across banking and asset management. Money market funds, private credit, real estate, and equities are increasingly being represented on blockchains. Citigroup projects the tokenized securities market will reach $5.5 trillion by 2030.

Tether is best known for issuing USDT, the world’s most widely used stablecoin. The company also operates XAUT, a tokenized gold offering that has reached $2.6 billion in size. The Saudi Arabia initiative represents a strategic expansion of Tether’s tokenization infrastructure beyond stablecoins into institutional real-world assets.
