Robinhood’s prediction markets platform is shifting focus toward financial assets, with bitcoin, gold, and oil price volatility contracts now among its fastest-growing products, according to JB Mackenzie, VP and GM for futures and prediction markets at the trading platform.

Mackenzie spoke at the NEXTPredict conference in New York on October 23, 2026, detailing how Robinhood’s prediction markets business has evolved since the company entered the space through a partnership with Kalshi, a federally regulated prediction market exchange. “We’ve now started to see price volatility contracts, such as bitcoin, crude oil, gold, start to dominate the marketplace, and they’re the fastest growing products that are out there,” Mackenzie said.

The shift reflects changing customer demand. Sports remains the largest product Robinhood offers in prediction markets, but financial asset contracts are gaining momentum. Crypto prediction market contracts now settle in periods as short as 15 minutes, a dramatic acceleration from earlier timeframes. “It started off with a week. It’s moved to a day, and now we’re down to 15 [minutes],” Mackenzie said.

Prediction markets allow traders to buy contracts based on whether an event will happen, with prices reflecting the implied probability of outcomes. The products are drawing customers into Robinhood’s broader ecosystem. Mackenzie noted that customers entering through prediction markets often expand into other Robinhood offerings. “What you see them do is almost immediately start to build out into equities, crypto, futures, options,” he said.

In September 2026, Robinhood’s largest prediction market event contract was tied to a Federal Reserve interest rate decision, underscoring the appeal of financial event contracts to traders.

Sports prediction contracts, however, face headwinds. State gambling regulators have mounted legal challenges against Robinhood’s sports offerings, creating uncertainty in that segment.

Robinhood now operates 11 distinct businesses that each generate more than $100 million in annual revenue, according to the company. Prediction markets represent one avenue for growth, though the company has not disclosed specific revenue or volume figures for the segment.
