An artificial intelligence payment hub operating on the XRP Ledger has recorded nearly 4.5 million transactions since its introduction, yet settled only 5,836.71 XRP and 4,125.29 RLUSD in cumulative value across all activity.
t54 labs operates the XRPL AI Hub, which enables software agents to execute micropayments for API calls, AI inference, and digital services. Ripple introduced the underlying XRPL AI Starter Kit on June 9, permitting agents to pay in either XRP or RLUSD, Ripple’s stablecoin. The hub currently hosts 152 registered merchants and averaged 199,059 payments per day over the preceding seven days as of September 8.
The hub tracks only settlements denominated in XRP and RLUSD, not all transactions processed on the broader ledger. Transaction fees on the XRP Ledger are set at a minimum of 10 drops and are destroyed rather than distributed to token holders or validators. Small payments represent the intended design of the service.
CryptoSlate, which reported the hub metrics, noted the distinction between transaction throughput and actual token demand. “The hub’s activity establishes the former; its counters alone cannot establish the latter,” the outlet stated. The comment reflects debate over whether high transaction counts on a payments network necessarily correlate with sustained demand for the underlying token.
XRP traded at $1.40 on September 8, according to market data cited alongside the hub report. The token carried a market capitalization of $87.5 billion and reported 24-hour trading volume of $2 billion. CryptoSlate assigned XRP a bullish market signal rating of 66 out of 100.
The XRPL AI Hub settlement figures underscore a core mechanic of the XRP Ledger: micropayment infrastructure can operate at scale without requiring proportional movement of the base token. Agents executing millions of transactions can settle value through small XRP amounts or stablecoin alternatives, a design feature distinct from demand models that assume transaction count and token circulation move in tandem.
