CEO Matt Cole says company buying Bitcoin “hand over fist” as treasury swells to nearly 20,000 coins

Strive Inc. has accumulated 19,864 BTC, securing the seventh-largest corporate Bitcoin position in the world, CEO Matt Cole announced to Bloomberg. The company built the position from zero in under a year, with recent purchases spanning June at an average cost of $65,850 per coin.

Cole told Bloomberg that “Strive has been buying Bitcoin hand over fist,” signaling aggressive accumulation during periods of price weakness. Between June 15 and 21 alone, Strive purchased 759 BTC at the $65,850 average. Earlier in the month, the company bought 73 BTC at $63,646 and 32 BTC at $63,900, demonstrating a pattern of multiple tranches across June.

The treasury expansion reflects a broader capital deployment strategy. In May and late spring, Strive acquired $185 million in Bitcoin, including a 2,500 BTC purchase at a $74,092 average and 1,109 BTC at $76,989 per coin. Cole credited operational discipline, stating “We 4x our Bitcoin holdings operating in a bear market and I look forward to seeing what we can do in a bull market.”

The January 2026 acquisition of Semler Scientific accelerated Strive’s position. The all-stock deal marked the first time a publicly traded Bitcoin treasury company acquired another publicly traded Bitcoin treasury company. Semler contributed 5,048 BTC to the combined entity, and Strive deployed an additional $29 million into Bitcoin post-close, paying off Semler’s legacy debt in the process.

Cole, who previously managed a $70 billion portfolio at CalPERS and worked with the Federal Reserve and Treasury during quantitative easing, has positioned Strive around the thesis that Bitcoin should function as the hurdle rate for all capital allocation decisions.

Strive announced plans to raise up to $4.2 billion through Class A common stock ($2.1 billion) and SATA, a Variable Rate Perpetual Preferred Stock instrument designed to give investors exposure to Bitcoin yield through structured preferred equity. SATA absorbed an estimated 490 BTC in a single day at launch, exceeding the entire global daily Bitcoin mining supply. The company was the second public company to launch a publicly traded perpetual preferred equity instrument of this kind.

In Q1 2026, Strive reported Bitcoin yield exceeding 15%. The company has indicated plans to monetize Semler’s operating business within 12 months of the transaction close.

Corporate Treasury Rankings

Strive’s 19,864 BTC position now ranks seventh among all corporate Bitcoin holders. The Semler acquisition pushed the combined entity past Tesla and Trump Media in the corporate holder rankings, a milestone achieved through disciplined accumulation during market downturns.
