Strive, a publicly traded asset manager, purchased 1,800 Bitcoin between Aug. 24 and Aug. 28 for approximately $143 million, pushing the firm past Bullish to become the fifth-largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder. The acquisition brought Strive’s total holdings to 23,156 BTC.
CEO Matt Cole confirmed the purchase on Monday, Aug. 31. The 1,800-coin buy followed a prior acquisition of 1,110 BTC the previous week for roughly $81.5 million. Combined, the two purchases increased Strive’s Bitcoin holdings by 8.4% in five business days, according to Adam Livingston, adviser to Saturn Credit.
Strive paid an average of $79,431 per Bitcoin in the latest purchase, including fees and expenses. The previous week’s purchase averaged $73,409 per coin. The timing aligns with a broader Bitcoin market recovery that began Aug. 19 following a US Treasury Department announcement on long-term bond buybacks. Bitcoin has since rallied more than 23% to a recent high above $81,000.
Strategy Resumes Buying
Strategy, the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder, also resumed Bitcoin acquisitions on Monday for the first time since June. The company purchased 4,603 BTC at an average price of $80,318 per coin, lifting its total holdings to above 845,000 BTC. This purchase came after Strategy conducted four Bitcoin sales between May and late August.
Corporate Holdings Ranking
Strive’s fifth-place ranking among publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holders reflects the firm’s accelerated accumulation strategy over the past week. Before the latest purchase, Strive held 21,356 BTC. The acquisition now positions the asset manager ahead of Bullish, a crypto exchange and digital asset infrastructure company, in the corporate Bitcoin holdings hierarchy.
Strategy remains far ahead of all other publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holders with its 845,000-plus BTC position. The specific identities of the second through fourth-ranked holders were not disclosed.
