OKX introduced a consumer app on October 6 that converts over 50 local currencies into dollar-backed stablecoins, offers up to 10% annual percentage yield on eligible holdings, and enables spending via virtual or physical payment cards.
The product, called OKX Money, targets users in markets where local currencies are volatile and access to U.S.-dollar savings or global payment infrastructure is limited or expensive. The app abstracts blockchain elements for non-crypto users, presenting stablecoin balances as straightforward dollar accounts.
“Hundreds of millions of people have been excluded from dollar-denominated savings and frictionless global spending because the infrastructure was never built for them,” OKX stated in the product announcement.
Users can convert local currency into USDG, USDC, or USDT and earn rewards on balances. The app also offers up to 10% cashback on eligible purchases made through the payment cards. OKX secured a Maltese payments-institution license in 2026 to support European stablecoin and card services.
Competitive landscape
The launch places OKX among exchanges expanding consumer payment products. Binance offers Binance Pay, Coinbase operates Coinbase One with automated yield ranging from 3.75% to 5% on USDC, and Bybit provides card and savings offerings. Stripe is also expanding stablecoin card services.
Crypto-card-spending reached $1 billion this year as exchanges compete to move stablecoin balances into everyday transactions. OKX reported 24-hour trading volume of $2.2 billion.
OKX Money does not specify which markets will receive the app first, the card program provider, or the exact eligibility criteria for yield and cashback rewards.
