OKX launches platform enabling users to build spot, perpetuals, and outcomes markets with shared liquidity
OKX has launched Exchange OS, a platform on its X Layer Ethereum layer-2 network that allows users to build spot, perpetuals, and outcomes markets from the ground up. The platform can handle up to 300,000 transactions per second at millisecond-level speed, according to OKX.
Exchange OS addresses fragmentation across crypto trading venues. “Trading, settlement, margining, and liquidity functions remain trapped inside disconnected venues, even as blockchain made open asset issuance possible,” said Star Xu, OKX founder and CEO.
The platform lets users create their own assets, oracle systems, revenue models, and compliance frameworks. Markets can be structured as permissioned or permissionless arrangements. OKX is currently rolling out Exchange OS to select partners, with the FIFA World Cup serving as the first market to launch on the platform, structured as a predictions-style market.
The current phase is limited to early partners. OKX plans a public launch in Q3 2026, with protocol upgrades scheduled for Q4 2026 and beyond.
The launch reflects OKX’s broader expansion into tokenization and AI agent transaction infrastructure. X Layer operates as OKX’s Ethereum layer-2 solution, providing the underlying infrastructure for Exchange OS.
