MoneyGram Ramps, the money-transfer company’s cash-to-crypto service, became available on the Solana blockchain on August 10, enabling wallets, exchanges, and developers building on Solana to convert between cash and digital assets through MoneyGram’s global payment network.

The expansion marks MoneyGram’s second major blockchain integration. The service allows users to deposit cash into digital assets or withdraw cryptocurrency as local currency without building individual bank connections. MoneyGram supports cash deposits in 25 countries and cash withdrawals in 170 countries and territories, serving 60 million active customers.

“The future of payments is built on access,” said Anthony Soohoo, Chairman and CEO of MoneyGram. “Bringing MoneyGram Ramps to Solana is another step toward building a truly open, global payments network.”

Prior blockchain deployments

MoneyGram first launched a cash-on/off-ramp service with Stellar Development Foundation in 2022, converting cash directly to USDC, the stablecoin issued by Circle. That partnership established the template for Ramps across multiple blockchain networks.

In June 2026, MoneyGram issued MGUSD, a dollar-backed stablecoin, on the Stellar network using Bridge infrastructure, the stablecoin platform owned by Stripe. That same month, MoneyGram became a validator on Solana, positioning itself as a network participant ahead of the Ramps launch.

Stablecoin infrastructure strategy

MoneyGram views blockchain rails as enabling faster, cheaper, and more easily tracked cross-border transfers. The Ramps service supports stablecoin-based payments and remittances, allowing developers to integrate cash conversion without managing traditional banking relationships directly.

MoneyGram is listed as a partner in Open USD, a Stripe-led stablecoin initiative. The company’s multi-blockchain approach reflects a strategy to position its payment infrastructure across multiple networks rather than concentrating on a single blockchain.
