Block’s Cash App expanded its cryptocurrency offerings beyond bitcoin and USDC on Tuesday, integrating MoonPay to allow U.S. users to purchase ether, solana, XRP, and USDT directly from their Cash App balances.

The integration marks the second major asset expansion for Cash App in 2026, following the addition of USDC earlier in the year. The MoonPay partnership enables the 50 million-user platform to broaden its digital asset menu without building internal infrastructure.

Users can now fund external wallets including Ledger, MetaMask, and Uniswap through the integration. Morgan Kuntze, Block’s global partnerships lead, said the move reflects customer demand for choice. “While bitcoin remains at the core of our digital asset strategy, we want to give customers choice and flexibility however they choose to pay,” Kuntze said.

Dorsey’s Stablecoin Shift

The expansion comes despite Jack Dorsey, co-founder and CEO of Block, expressing skepticism about stablecoin support in March 2026. Dorsey stated he did not believe it wise to move from one gatekeeper to another, referencing concerns about centralized stablecoins. He acknowledged, however, that customer demand for stablecoins was real.

“I don’t think it’s wise to go from one gatekeeper to another,” Dorsey said at the time.

The MoonPay partnership allows Block to offer additional stablecoins and altcoins while maintaining Dorsey’s stated preference for bitcoin as the core holding. Cash App users can now access a broader range of digital assets without the company building proprietary payment rails for each asset class.

Wallet Integration

The MoonPay integration extends beyond Cash App’s native wallet. Users can fund external wallets including Ledger, BitPay, Trust Wallet, MetaMask, and Uniswap, broadening the utility of the Cash App cryptocurrency feature set.

The move positions MoonPay as a key infrastructure partner for Block’s cryptocurrency strategy, outsourcing asset availability and payment processing to an established third-party platform rather than building those capabilities in-house.
