Lightning Network integration and Passkey authentication simplify stablecoin sends from Bitcoin

Breez announced Glow, an open-source progressive web app that allows users to send stablecoins directly from Bitcoin balances via Lightning Network integration. The app uses Passkey authentication instead of traditional seed phrases and is available on Apple and Android app stores.

“Glow is a Bitcoin app for everyone,” Breez stated in its announcement.

Glow supports native Lightning payments with customizable Lightning addresses. The app currently sends USDT and USDC across most networks and blockchains through a partnership with Flashnet, a stablecoin yield provider and decentralized exchange. Onramp options include Cash App and MoonPay integration.

The software is MIT-licensed and free open-source. Breez SDK handles asset exchange in the background and supports Lightning payments through Spark protocol integration.

USDB stablecoin and yield structure

Glow supports USDB, a Bitcoin-native stablecoin deployed through the Spark protocol and compatible with Lightning Network. Brale Inc, a U.S. regulated money services business licensed across over 45 states, issues USDB and claims it is 100% backed by T-bills, cash, and cash equivalents.

USDB holders earn up to 6% APY delivered from Flashnet’s DeFi exchange profits. The yield structure ties stablecoin holding directly to platform economics rather than external lending markets.

Regulatory environment and Bitcoin Spark partnership

Breez partnered with Bitcoin Spark on the initiative. The GENIUS Act, pending U.S. regulation for stablecoin issuers, takes effect in 2027. Breez noted that GENIUS Act compliance cannot currently be verified because the regulations are still being implemented and do not take effect until 2027.

The app’s Passkey standard replaces seed phrase management, a common friction point in Bitcoin wallet adoption. By anchoring stablecoin functionality to Lightning Network infrastructure, Glow aims to bridge Bitcoin’s native layer with simplified payment flows.
