Binance has begun migrating non-stock crypto assets from Funding Accounts into Spot Accounts, starting September 29 and continuing through January 2027, when the exchange will rename Funding Accounts to Stocks Accounts.
The restructuring separates cryptocurrency settlement infrastructure from tokenized stock and stock-option settlement. After the rename, Funding Accounts will be dedicated primarily to settlement for stocks and stock options, with settlement assets including USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and BNB. Bitcoin, Ether, and other ordinary crypto holdings will move to Spot Accounts.
Assets received through Binance Card and gift-card activity will also move into Spot Accounts as part of the migration. Binance Pay and Convert functions are being adjusted to accommodate the new account structure. The exchange noted that the migration does not change the total value of user assets and that historical transaction labels will remain in place.
The migration is an internal account-architecture change rather than a forced sale or liquidation. Binance has been expanding tokenized stock and stock-option products, and the account restructuring aligns the platform’s infrastructure with that product expansion.
Users with recurring payment or Convert settings may need to update those configurations to reflect the new account structure, though Binance did not detail which specific settings require updates.
