XRP exchange-traded funds recorded $1.84 million in net outflows during the week ended October 16, according to SoSoValue data, breaking a 13-week streak of consecutive positive inflows that had accumulated $1.80 billion since the week ended July 17.

The reversal marked a sharp turn for XRP ETFs after $11.31 million in inflows the prior week. XRP ETF assets under management declined to $1.47 billion from $1.57 billion, reflecting both outflows and market valuation changes.

XRP’s weakness was part of a broader sell-off across cryptocurrency ETFs. Bitcoin ETF net withdrawals totaled $228.58 million for the week, while Ethereum ETFs saw $319.97 million in outflows. Solana ETF redemptions reached $25.52 million. Combined, the four asset categories posted $575.91 million in net outflows.

The two-week combined withdrawal total reached $1.81 billion, compared with $1.24 billion in net outflows the previous week, signaling intensifying redemption pressure.

Bitcoin Outflows Moderate; Trailing Flows Remain Positive

Bitcoin ETF outflows moderated 66 percent from the prior week’s $681.10 million withdrawal. Weekly Bitcoin ETF outflows reached approximately 2,800 BTC, according to Axel Adler, an analyst at CryptoQuant.

“Bitcoin ETFs have recorded two consecutive weeks of net withdrawals, though their trailing 30-trading-day flows remained positive at about 15,400 BTC as of Oct. 16,” Adler said. “Weekly outflows had eased to around 2,800 BTC, suggesting selling pressure was moderating even as institutional accumulation continued to slow.”

Despite the weekly outflows, Bitcoin ETFs maintained $104.29 billion in total net assets, with cumulative net inflows reaching $56.88 billion since inception. Over two weeks, Bitcoin ETF withdrawals totaled approximately $910 million.

Ethereum Leads Outflow Share; Three-Week Losses Mount

Ethereum ETF withdrawals accounted for 56 percent of combined outflows across the four asset categories. The $319.97 million weekly redemption extended a three-week losing streak, with approximately $1 billion withdrawn during that period.

Ethereum ETF net assets fell to $14.95 billion from $15.71 billion the prior week. Cumulative net inflows since inception stood at $12.94 billion, with the prior week’s outflow totaling $542.07 million.

Solana Outflows Continue; Second Negative Week

Solana ETF outflows marked the second consecutive negative week after a lengthy period of consistent accumulation ended earlier in October. Weekly redemptions reached $25.52 million, with two-week losses totaling $50.33 million.

Solana ETF net assets stood at $1.62 billion, down from prior-week levels. Cumulative net inflows since inception remained at $1.56 billion.

Monetary Policy and Treasury Yields Cited as Headwinds

Rising US Treasury yields and Federal Reserve restrictive monetary policy are cited as factors reducing Bitcoin ETF demand. The 10-year Treasury yield recently reached levels last seen in 2002, increasing competition for investor capital between interest-bearing securities and non-yield-generating assets like Bitcoin and gold.

Bitcoin struggled to sustain recovery above $80,000 in late September amid concerns about US monetary policy and the broader risk assets outlook. The Federal Reserve’s September interest-rate hike preceded the weakening ETF demand.

Ecoinometrics found that daily Bitcoin ETF inflows and outflows largely offset each other over nearly three weeks since late September recovery. The research platform’s Fed Communications Index indicates policymakers have become progressively more hawkish since March.
