Metaplanet, the fourth-largest corporate Bitcoin holder, transferred 10,270 BTC to Coinbase Prime across four separate deposits within one week, with 4,800 BTC worth nearly $377 million moved on Aug 31, 2026.
The transfers represent 29% of Metaplanet’s total reported holdings of 35,102 BTC, valued at $2.75 billion. The deposits occurred on a staggered timeline: 139 BTC six days ago, 3,331 BTC three days ago, 2,000 BTC two days ago, and 4,800 BTC today.
Metaplanet did not disclose the reason for moving its Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime, a custody service operated by the cryptocurrency exchange. The transfers to a third-party custodian have triggered speculation about a potential liquidation, though the company has not confirmed whether the deposits precede a sale or represent another transaction type.
Arkham Intelligence, a blockchain data provider, flagged the transfers publicly. The timing and scale of the movements have drawn market attention amid a period when smaller corporate treasury companies have been selling their Bitcoin holdings.
The Metaplanet transfers contrast sharply with Capital B, a French Bitcoin treasury company, which announced a contrasting strategy. Capital B raised €21.0 million, or $24.5 million, through a private share placement and used the proceeds to acquire 270 BTC, signaling continued accumulation rather than liquidation.
Metaplanet’s current total Bitcoin holdings stand at 35,102 BTC following this week’s transfers to Coinbase Prime.
